Live weather, snow, avalanche risk, lift status, refuge availability and webcams across the Chamonix valley — refreshed from Météo-France, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, and partner feeds.
WEBCAMS PROVIDED BY PANOMAX, CHAMONIX.COM, COMPAGNIE DU MONT-BLANC, CHAMONIX.NET, SKAPING AND BERGFEX. ALL FEEDS ARE PUBLIC.
Recent west-southwest winds (60–80 km/h overnight) have transported the surface snow onto leeward slopes. Fresh wind slabs are sitting on a thin layer of faceted crystals, particularly in shaded north and east-facing terrain above the treeline. The bond is weak in places.
Triggering by a single person is possible on slopes of 35° and above. Cornices have grown overnight — give them a wide margin. Below 2400m, the snowpack is generally stable but expect spring conditions on south aspects from mid-morning.
DEPTHS ARE INDICATIVE PLACEHOLDERS FOR THIS PREVIEW. A LIVE VERSION WOULD PULL FROM THE COMPAGNIE DU MONT-BLANC AND MÉTÉO-FRANCE FEEDS. ALWAYS CONFIRM BEFORE HEADING OUT.
ALTITUDES & ACCESS ARE INDICATIVE — ALWAYS CONFIRM OPENING DATES, BOOKING AND CONDITIONS DIRECTLY WITH EACH REFUGE BEFORE SETTING OUT. HIGH HUTS INVOLVE GLACIATED OR EXPOSED TERRAIN; GO EQUIPPED AND, IF UNSURE, WITH A GUIDE.
LIVE TIMETABLES: CHAMONIX BUS & SNCF / MONT-BLANC EXPRESS. STATUS SHOWN IS AN INDICATIVE PLACEHOLDER FOR THIS PREVIEW.
The PGHM (Peloton de Gendarmerie de Haute Montagne) is Chamonix's mountain rescue service — among the most experienced in the world. Save the number. Don't hesitate to call.
